One year ago, my father asked me, the young internet entrepreneur, “What’s a blog?” I paused for minute. I had heard the term before … but I couldn’t answer him. I honestly didn’t know. Little did I know that so many people would soon tap into a new type of gold mine and make money with blogs.
blogs ARE MAGNETS FOR SEARCH ENGINES: Go on, get on to Google and, whatever topic you search, you’ll inevitably see that the search engines have thrown up a number of Blogs in the top ten results. This is because like to run are constantly showing fresh, new and key word friendly content just like your web pages should; that’s a Blog’s very reason for being. Imagine the value to you of having your own Blog pop in the top end of search results. The ubiquitous search engines clamor to highlight fresh, appropriate content – they love it. Constantly re-newed and freshened Blogs leave stale, ageing (and rarely updated) web sites for dead.
Some blogs also sell ad space significantly like a magazine where payments are made every time the ad is shown or ads are displayed to get a monthly rate.
Sure, this can be a sound argument depending on an individual and their unique business situation. I don’t believe there is a one-sized fits all publicity approach for every business.
Blogs in general are simply diaries or logs of daily or moment to moment activity, quite simply a journal of sorts. Although lately online blogs have become a great way to share your opinion or simply share knowledge with others, in personal or social life as well as in a business environment. It has become a way to have fun, feel close, or even become reachable in all sorts of situations.
A friend of mine (an author) just chalked up a huge publicity campaign for her book where her motto was “no outlet is too small.” She wrote guest posts, participated in interviews, and sent review copies of her book to anyone and everyone that was interested.
Paid consultations – Just like being a speaker in a seminar, having paid consultations is an indirect way to do blogging for profits. Through your blogs, you establish your expertise and credibility on a subject matter. This way, some people will look forward to consulting with you about their concerns.
Blogs are a fascinatingly simple, quick, and cheap way to create revenue online. There is essentially no risk involved and there is no overhead, apart from hosting. You can simply set up a free blog, put AdSense on it, and post whatever you want. If you follow the guidelines above, you will soon be on your way to residual income.
