Several years later, Cincinnati would elect thirteen governors, and become one of the country’s most populous cities. This made it much easier to become a major industrial hub for minorities.

The city’s socio-economic composition is very diverse. Certain residents reside in luxury, high-income areas while others reside in low-income communities. In the 1950s, many industries moved to the suburbs, and along with them, wealthy residents. The population exploded once more in the 1980s, with more than 1.8 million people living within the Cincinnati-KY-IN MSA. Many residents were able to restore their dignity thanks to the city’s redevelopment efforts.

Although the Ohio River was a significant influence on the city’s early history however, it is because of its location on the river that its influence on Cincinnati has been so strong. It provided the city with an important route to defense and trade and also fueled the city’s growth to become a diversified city. This led to an increase in manufacturing and industry. A large Irish and German immigrants’ movement brought more diverse population and helped to define the area’s character.

Although the city is generally mild, the temperature in Cincinnati can be wildly different. In the summer, temperatures can be in the 90s or lower. Floods are common in the city. The city’s climate zone rating is 5b to 6b, with the more humid areas closer to the Ohio River. Certain microclimates have changed and caused individual streets to have a different climate. A common wall lizard from Italy was introduced to certain areas which gave the city a subtropical ambiance.

The city is a vibrant place for sports, dining and art. It is also home to the world famous chili. Cincinnati is famous for its thick, savory chili. It is also known for its Ice cream. Locals love to scoop Graeter’s Ice cream. You can’t leave Cincinnati without sampling at least one local delight. There are more than 40 breweries in Cincinnati, so you’re sure to find something you love.

A visit to the Cincinnati Zoo will satisfy both your animal and culture-loving soul. The Cincinnati Zoo has an abundance of animals including a variety of endangered species, as well as world-famous reptiles. Cincinnati is also home to the Cincinnati Reds, the first professional baseball team. If you’re interested in sports, you can catch a Reds game at Great American Ball Park.
